Overview

Automate your Kubernetes clusters with Dynatrace workflows to delete unresponsive pods, restart deployments, describe pods, or apply configurations as you would with kubectl.

Use cases

Kubernetes Connector allows you to remediate anomalies automatically:

  • Kill a pod that's stuck in a termination phase.
  • If workload Kyverno is present in a cluster, but all pods are in a failed state, delete the webhook configuration.
  • Kill pod and trigger redeployment when liveness and readiness probes have not been implemented appropriately

Follow the instructions detailed in Dynatrace documentation.

Install Kubernetes Connector. Follow the operator-based deployment scenario instructions, which automatically configure Edgeconnect to tunnel traffic securely to your cluster and set up the required connection parameters.

Kubernetes Connector enables you to automate your K8s clusters based on Dynatrace insights.

Define various incident triggers:

  • Use the power of DQL and leverage events to react to situations like a pod stuck in a termination phase.
  • Use Biz-Events as a trigger to react on extended events like a deployment event, failed release validation with Site Reliability Guardian, specific log messages, or external system events.
  • Define a scheduler for periodic tasks.

Kubernetes Connector allows you to:

  • Apply configurations as you would using a kubectl command
  • Get logs based on namespace, pod, or container
  • List resources
  • Get resource details
  • Patch resource
  • Delete resources
  • Restart a deployment

  • (Deprecated) Restart Deployment Action – The previous "Restart Deployment" action is now marked as deprecated. It is fully replaced by the new "Rollout Restart Resource" action, which covers the same functionality and more. Users are encouraged to migrate to the new action for future compatibility.
  • Patch Strategy Selection – The Patch Resource action now supports selecting a patch strategy (e.g., merge, strategic, or json), offering greater control when modifying resources.
  • Bugfix for Connection Settings Form - Resolved an issue where the connection settings form remained open after editing a connection.
