Overview

StatsD is one of the easiest ways to send custom application and infrastructure metrics to Dynatrace. Dynatrace OneAgent contains a fully compatible StatsD daemon that implements the StatsD protocol and extends it to allow for multiple metric dimensions.

This is intended for users who want to:

  • Leverage existing StatsD integration to extend Dynatrace monitoring capabilities.

This enables you to:

  • Leverage any of the 60+ client libraries in various languages to send metrics from your application to Dynatrace and immediately benefit from Dynatrace AI-driven root cause analysis.
  • Use Spring Micrometer, Dropwizard, or other metric frameworks that support StatsD at the back end to send metrics from your application to Dynatrace and immediately benefit from Dynatrace AI-driven root cause analysis.
  • Use built-in telemetry of open source solutions like Apache Airflow and instantly monitor them with Dynatrace.

Compatibility Requirements:

  • OneAgent version 1.201+

Get started

The DynatraceStatsD listener comes with OneAgent version 1.201+. All you need to do is enable DynatraceStatsD metric ingestion at the environment or host level. Note that the host-level configuration overrides the environment configuration.

Follow these steps as described in documentation:

  1. Enable metric ingestion at the environment level.
  2. Enable metric ingestion for a single host.
